Courses for the 500+ hour Body-Mind Centering® Somatic Movement Educator program began October 2019 at the Abbotsford Convent. Module 2 (February 2020) will take place at Siteworks in Brunswick.

Upon successful completion of the entire SME program plus homework, participants will receive certification as a Body-Mind Centering® Somatic Movement Educator and may become a Registered Somatic Movement Educator through ISMETA (The International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association). Courses may also be taken individually for professional development or personal interest.

The entire SME program consists of 75 days with a total fee of $15,000 (plus 10% GST for a total of $16,500) if you complete all courses at SEA.

Homework requirements for those seeking certification include several guidance and private sessions with a certified BMC practitioner or teacher. Fees for these sessions are paid directly to the practitioner, and not included in the course fees.

*Any course longer than 5 days will have a day off every 3 or 4 days. Exact days off beyond 2019 may vary slightly pending venue availability.
Classes run approximately 9am-6:15pm each day.

New Zealand residents receive a 15% discount on all course fees.
Course payments received less than 3 months before start date will incur a $75 administrative fee per course ($150 per module).
Two 50% Community Service Scholarships are available for each course OR the entire program. Scholarship applications have now closed.

•want to teach movement and hands-on in any setting
•are an artist, therapist, educator or researcher and want to include Body-Mind Centering® in your work

The first four courses of the Infant Developmental Movement Educator (IDME) Program – Senses and Perceptions 1, Ontogenetic Development, RRR and BNP – are offered as part of the SME program. These courses can also be taken individually for people who wish to complete the IDME program. (IDME 1 & 2 are not currently being offered at SEA but are available at several other program locations. We hope to be able to offer this in a few years’ time.)
